Linda Lee (Smith) Radcliffe
Loving mother, devoted wife.
Each year in January, we honor the mother of Lori Merkel by changing our logo to yellow. This gesture is to commemorate the legacy of love that continues through Lori to here daughter Lindee Rose.
Linda was born on March 26, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia to Benjamin and Effie Lee Root Smith. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960.
A consummate wife, mother, and homemaker, Linda was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks from a variety of cuisines. She enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers and plants, especially gardenias, hydrangeas, and roses. Some of her favorite outdoor activities included time at the beach, laying by the pool, boating on the lake, and Civil War reenactments.
A wife, a mother, a grandmother too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
